Not 500 Wheels – the OEM Ford Five Hundred Wheels

February 17th, 2011

I thought the Five Hundred was a sports car with OEM Ford wheels on it… I could not be more wrong. The Ford Five Hundred is a full-size sedan that was made for the 2005-2007 model years with factory original Ford Five Hundred wheels. Here in North America, the name sounded similar to the classic Fairlane 500 and Galaxie 500 models of the 1950s through 1970s.

The first Five Hundred was introduced in 2004 as the 2005 model with 2005 Ford Five Hundred wheels at the North American International Auto Show that’s – I think – always held in Detroit. It had first entered production on July 12 in 2004 in Chicago. This was the same plant that made the fourth generation mid-size Taurus.

Wouldn’t you think the car is a sports car, too?
