What Are Lug Bolts?

July 6th, 2011

Here’s the definition of a lug bolt: a solid threaded rod with a cone-shaped end that is typically mounted into a wheel hub on an axle of a vehicle. These come on different wheels like the Ford Edge rims and even the truck wheels that come on Ford models.

Once the bolt is attached properly to the wheel hub, the tapered end protruding from the axle can receive a lug nut for fastening. The main purpose of the lug bolts on your Ford Edge wheels is to support the wheels on the vehicles. You can determine the pattern by measuring the distance between the lug bolts on the axle – if I can do it then you can do it.

Easy, right?
