History of Mercury Rims & Mercury Wheels
Mercury, a division of Ford Motor company, was created in 1938 by Edsel Ford (Henry Ford’s son). Mercury was not only sold in the United States, but also in the U.S Virgin Islands, the Middle East, Mexico and Puerto Rico. In all of these arenas, Mercury (named after the Roman god Mercury, the messenger) was known as a performance brand. They stopped production on all vehicles and Mercury Rims, on January 4, 2011 with the release of their final Mercury car, the Grand Marquis. A lot of different Mercury vehicles have come with OE aluminum or alloy wheels. The older Mercury models have steel wheels with hubcaps over them. Mercury Rims Finishes
Over the past few years that Mercury has been in business, they have designed factory alloy wheels to go on their different cars. The most popular finish on their wheels is the Silver finish (also known as the Argent finish), followed closely by the Machined finish, and lastly, the polished and chrome finishes. Some of the Mercury dealerships in your area send their Mercury Rims out to be chromed by an outside shop before they are sold. Because of this, some car owners have Mercury Rims and Mercury Wheels with chrome finish that are not actually factory original.
