Availed with only automatic transmissions and rear wheel drive, the GS430 was mechanically identical to Toyota's Aristo that was sold exclusively in Japan where there was no Lexus brand. The 4.3L engine lasted half way through the third generation when it was replaced (as it had replaced the slightly smaller 4.0L previously) by the slightly larger 4.6L V8.

Rims for the GS430 were only alloy rims that included 17" alloy wheels with 5 or 6 spokes finished in either chrome or silver. There was also 16" alloy rims with 6 spokes finished in chrome and silver. There was one 18" alloy rims with 5 spokes and was the only rim finished in hyper silver.
