Automatic as well as manual transmissions were paired with the Alero's line of engines that included a 2.2 straight four cylinder engine with Ecotec technology, a 2.4L straight four cylinder engine, and a 3.4L V6 engine. The Alero was the last Oldsmobile to remain in production during the company's disintegration which ended in 2004 along with the Alero production.

Wheels on the Alero include two 16" alloy rims with 6 spokes with either silver or polished finish. There was one 15" alloy rim with silver finish and 6 spokes as well as a 15" steel rim with 20 spokes and a painted finish.
