Can I Protect my Used Rims From Curbs?

May 18th, 2010

Yes & no. Why? It depends how you look at it.

As of now, tires are built with a thicker rubber so they can withstand those small “accidents” that happen when you bump into a curb. When it comes to protecting your actual factory original Buick Regal rims for example, you’re going to want to get either a raised or a recessed tire. Both were manufactured to protect low-profile aluminum wheels.

When someone owns a truck, rim protectors usually helps shield the actual tire & OEM rim from wreckage & damage that’d be due to small rocks, pieces of tree stumps on the road, & other random things on the street.

Despite all of the different names for “tire/rim protectors”, they all do the same thing.
