As of now, Ford is still studying fuel cell-powered electric powertrains. They have also demonstrated hydrogen-fueled internal combustion engine technologies; I guess they’re trying to do big things with all of this. What they’ve found so far is that hybrid vehicles and/or fuel cell vehicles decrease air pollution emissions as well as sound levels. Cool, right?
At the Greater LA Auto Show that was held in 2006, they introduced the Explorer as a hydrogen fuel cell version with OEM 2006 Ford Explorer wheels . They incorporated a big hydrogen storage tank that stayed in the center of the car.
