“How do I find the offset of my OEM wheels?”

March 3rd, 2010

Sounds hard, right? It’s not! All you need to do is plug in a few simple numbers! So here are the 2 formulas that you need:

  • Overall width / 2 = Centerline
  • Backspacing – Centerline = Offset
  • Step #1: Find the width of your factory original wheel. (Here’s how to do it: http://www.originalwheels.com/blog/2010/02/figure-out-your-rim-size/)

Step #2: Divide that number by 2; this gives you the Centerline

Step #3: On the hub, measure from the hub-mounting surface to the edge of the inboard flange (the back face of the wheel)

Step #4: That measurement is used for the second equation

Now you have your offset! I told you it was easy; now you’re more cognizant of your Factory Wheel. Even if you don’t understand it (but I really hope you do), we include the Offset on our descriptions of wheels (: Let’s look at the Honda Passport Rims ; in 1994, the Original Steel Wheel for that year has an Offset of 7.5”.

It’s okay if you need help, all of us here at OriginalWheels.com are here to assist you.
