Definition Of “Finish” On Your Factory Wheels

July 11th, 2011

I’m sure that when you read the finish on the alloy Mercury Mountaineer wheels you have on your vehicle, you have no idea which one is which – so let me be so kind as to explain what it is.

The finish refers to the type of surface treatment a wheel is given. The machined & polished finish are pretty popular on alloy wheels – like the Mercury Mountaineer rims that go on a 2007. “Machined” is the finish that the wheel has after the last shaping procedure has been completed. There’s another step that involves passing the wheel through successively finer automated and hand polishing processes. This is what gives the wheels the polished finish.

Which finish do you want?
