Lincoln's MKT began production in 2009 as part of Lincoln's plan to expand their sport utility crossover vehicles, and served (along with the MKX) to replace the larger Lincoln Aviator. The MKT was a five door crossover based on Ford's D4 global platform which also houses Ford's Flex and Explorer, all with the option for either front wheel drive or all wheel drive.
