The Mercedes 190E began production in 1982 in Germany and after its huge success became available in the U.S. in 1990. Although the four door sedan (or saloon as the style is referred to as in Europe) had been very successful in Europe, with its engine choices including a variety of straight four cylinder engines along with a straight six cylinder engine and several diesel engines available turbocharged, with none of these engines over 2.6L Americans did not think the small vehicle was worthy of a Mercedes nameplate and consequently poor sales ensued in the U.S. Available with either a manual or automatic transmission the 190 and 190E only lasted four model years in the U.S. and was discontinued world wide in 1993.
Wheels on the 190 included two 14" rims that included an alloy and steel wheel with silver or painted finish, respectively. There were also two 15" rims, and alloy and steel finished with silver or painted finish, respectively.
